About this audiobook
Dorothy and her dog Toto are swept from a grey Kansas farm by a cyclone and set down in the colorful land of Oz, where her house lands on a wicked witch and Dorothy inherits the dead witch's silver shoes. Told that only the great Wizard in the Emerald City can send her home, she sets off down the road of yellow brick and gathers three companions: a Scarecrow who believes he has no brain, a Tin Woodman who longs for a heart, and a Cowardly Lion who wishes for courage. Together they reach the Wizard, who turns out to be a humbug — an ordinary man behind a curtain with no real magic — yet who helps each of them see that the Scarecrow was already clever, the Tin Woodman already loving, and the Lion already brave. And Dorothy learns that the silver shoes on her own feet had the power to carry her home all along.
Why it's worth a listen
A cyclone carries a Kansas farm girl and her dog to the magical land of Oz, where she follows a road of yellow brick to beg a great wizard to send her home — gathering along the way a scarecrow who wants a brain, a tin man who wants a heart, and a lion who wants courage. From Baum's original book (silver shoes, not ruby), the beloved story about discovering that what you're searching for you may have carried all along.
