About this audiobook

On a drowsy afternoon, Alice spots a White Rabbit in a waistcoat muttering that he's late, and follows it down a rabbit hole into Wonderland — a realm where nothing obeys ordinary rules. She drinks from bottles and eats cakes that make her enormous or tiny, swims in a pool of her own tears, meets a hookah-smoking caterpillar, a grinning Cheshire Cat that fades to nothing but its smile, and a Mad Hatter's tea party stuck forever at six o'clock. She plays croquet with live flamingos and hedgehogs for the tyrannical Queen of Hearts, who bellows 'Off with their heads!' at the smallest offense, and stands trial in a courtroom of pure nonsense — until, overwhelmed, Alice grows to her full size, declares the whole raging court to be nothing but a pack of cards, and wakes to find it was all a dream.

Why it's worth a listen

A bored girl follows a waistcoated white rabbit down a hole and falls into a world where she grows and shrinks, where a cat vanishes leaving only its grin, where a tea party never ends and a queen shouts for heads at everything — a place of pure, delicious, upside-down logic. Lewis Carroll's immortal dream, where the only sensible person in a mad world is a curious child who keeps asking, politely, why.

A question to keep

When none of the rules make sense, how do you keep hold of yourself?
